Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai is an Indian Tamil action-adventure film directed by Bala, written by Ashok Selvan and produced by Venkat Prabhu. The film stars Vikram Prabhu, Nayantara, Hansika Motwani and Santhanam in the lead roles and was released on 14 January 2017. It has won several awards including Best Film at the 43rd Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and Best South Indian Movie for 2017 for its originality of story. Sporting events are being actively organized in villages in order to encourage people to participate in sports. Vikram Prabhu, having won at a recent sporting event, is congratulated by his friends. He overhears two men talking about a village head who is cheating the villagers by charging them hefty amounts for land that they have owned for decades. Vikram, along with his friends go to the village in order to expose the fraudster. It turns out that Sudarshan (Santhanam), an estate owner who owns surrounding lands, is actually behind all this. Sudarshan had purchased the large forest area surrounding the village and he requires it back since he had planned on developing it into a resort of some sort. However, his plan was stymied by the villagers and he plans to use them as a cash cow for whatever it is that he has planned. To do so, he has created a false sense of wealth and then consigned villagers into financial slavery. Vikram learns that there is a national sports competition in which this officer will be participating. He asks the villagers to support him by preparing for the event and giving him all their land as rent. Under this premise, Sudarshan travels around with his henchmen and demands that all of the villages give him their lands for rent in order to participate in the sports meets. The villagers refuse and form a platform which will fight against Sudarshan's demand. Sudarshan promulgates a false story to Vikram's father telling him that he had a fight with Vikram which is the reason for his departure from the village. Vikram is jailed for three months and Sudarshan takes over the entire area. Upon his release from jail, Vikram, along with his friends plan a way to save the village. In the end, Vikram successfully fights against Sudarshan and gets all of the villagers freed from their financial slavery.Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai is directed by Bala who rose to fame after directing movies like "Naadodigal" and "Sarvam". The music for this movie was composed by G.V.Prakash and was released by Aditya Music Company on 21 December 2016 on all leading music platforms including Audio Jukebox, Hungama etc..
